Eddie Guerrero

Three years ago yesterday the wrestling world took a stunning blow when it was announced that Eddie Guerrero had passed away. It was a great loss not only for the wrestling world but for people all over the world. Eddie had a great personal and professional story.

He battled drugs, alcohol, the downfall of the WCW and his more personal demons. He decided to come out and was honest about his past. Anytime someone has the guts to go on national television and admit the things that he did…. You have to give them credit.

I remember the day he died like it was yesterday. I was out with friends and was gonna miss most of RAW that night. When I walked into a video store and asked to see their wrestling tapes the guy asked me if I heard about Eddie. I said no. He then told me that he had been found dead in his motel room. I went home and put on RAW to catch part of the tribute show. I was in shock.

There is something I have to admit here at The Eagle’s Ring…. I am an addict myself. I have been clean for over 5 years. So Eddie’s story touched me more than most. At the point of Eddie’s passing I had lived thru Owen Hart and Brian Pillman’s death but this one affected me more than those.

It was sad to watch a man fight so many personal wars and finally get to where he needs to be and then pass like he did.

I remember watching the tributes and all the things people had to say about him. Watching these tough men cry like babies when speaking of his passing. It was truly a touching a moment and something that this bird will never forget.

Some Random Thoughts

Well it’s been a while since The Eagle has written anything. So I have decided to make my presence known here on at The Eagle’s Ring. I would like to thank the people at the Pro’s From The Palace forums for starting a discussion that got me writing this column.

First let’s comment on something that has been ruffling my feathers. Now, I am not a John Cena hater. I like his work ethic but I hate his push. But by no means do I hate him. But how the hell do you get a title shot after being out for so long when there are plenty of others that deserve it. Heck I wouldn’t mind seeing another Jericho VS HBK for the World Title or a Randy Orton VS Jericho. Of course Cena gets the push and will most likely take the title. The only good thing is that if he does Orton should be next in line and will hopefully come out on top in that feud.

Randy Orton is the best thing going today. Do you not hear the RKO chants during RAW? The fans love him. And they also like to hate him. Not long ago Randy Orton was in danger of losing his job. He got into trouble overseas for trashing his motel room, was caught on steroids, and was battling a lot of demons. Now, he seems to have straightened up and is now on track.

I had the privilege ( I say that sarcastically)of watching TNA’s Turning Point. Folks if you missed it… you didn’t miss much. It seriously reminded me of the WCW days. The only difference is the name of the faction. Thanks Russo for making us relive those old days.

Well, if the reports are right then Christian Cage is headed to WWE. That makes The Eagle happy. I just hope that WWE does right by him. Put him back with Edge whether it be him tagging with him or feuding with him …. It don’t matter. Either way it will be gold. Cage in WWE is what it needs. I read on the forums someone say that Cage brings his own fan base and that is correct. He will bring his own fans and I am sure that the fans of WWE will love having Cage around. Think about it… Cage VS Edge, Cage VS Orton, and Cage VS HHH. Can you just imagine the matches that can be made.

The bottom line is that TNA is going down hill. The only good thing is that they are pushing some of the new talent in this storyline. The bottom line is that Nash, Angle, Sting, and Booker should be handing the torch over … not stealing the spotlight. Yes, its early in this storyline to see where it goes. But as of now it doesn’t look good. I hope that changes.

Well folks that’s all this bird has gotta say for now.

It maybe wrong, it maybe right…. Either way it’s a Bird’s Eye View
